The family trip
Hotel Falster is an obvious starting point for a cycling holiday in the South Sea Islands. The relatively flat landscape makes it an ideal area to cycle in. You are always close to the water and can experience the fascinating mosaic of water and land in shades of blue and green. Based in Nykøbing, there are no less than 5 nicely established cycle routes with signage. If you do not bring your own bike, we work closely with Larsson Cykler, where you can rent both touring bikes and electric bikes.
Suggestions for bike rides
Day 1:
Take a walk around Midtfalsterskove, visit Crocodile Zoo – here you can see Europe’s largest collection of crocodiles. With a detour to the tractor museum in Eskildstrup, you can experience a collection of over 100 tractors.
In Hannoverskoven there are several opportunities to eat your brought food.
In the middle of the forest you will find Borremosen, here you can also make a stop and enjoy your food in very beautiful surroundings. There are fallen tree trunks and other challenges for young souls.
On the way home you can visit Guldborgsund zoo and botanical garden – a cozy zoo in Nykøbing F.
Day 2: (Remember swimwear)
Take the trip to Denmark’s best bathing beach, 2 years in a row Marielyst Strand has been named Denmark’s best. Experience the cozy seaside resort of Marielyst and cycle on the dike overlooking the Baltic Sea. You come through Bøtøskoven / nature park where there are rare butterflies, myriads of migratory birds and wild horses.
You come to Scandinavia’s southernmost point. If you look closely you may see seals. Here is the old naval station, which has various exhibitions throughout the year. At Gedser remise you will find the yellow mansion from the Olsenbande films. The trip back from Gedser goes along Falster’s east coast through small towns with churches and past small fishing villages.
Day 3
It could be the day when you cycle around the very large zoo Knuthenborg Safari Park. You can cycle off the red route in Cykelblomsten to Sakskøbing and on towards Knuthen-borg or take the train to Sakskøbing. Set aside plenty of time to cycle around the park and experience free-ranging animals from around the world. More than 1000 animals, 70 animal species. In short, Northern Europe’s largest.

Day 4
Experience the Medieval Center and travel 610 years back in time. Take the trip over Frederik d. 9’s Bridge to Lolland and drive along Guldborgsund on the Sundruten.
After an experience and educational visit to the lively Middel-waldercenter, the trip continues along Guldborgsund to Guld-borg. Here you cycle over the bridge back to Falster and then the trip along Guldborgsund goes back to Nykøbing F. The package contains:
